The Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC), founded in 1973, serves as the region's comprehensive resource for survivors of sexual violence in the Greater Boston area and is noted as the oldest and largest in New England. Its mission is to end sexual violence through healing and social change, offering free, confidential support to survivors aged 12 and up, along with their families and friends. BARCC works with survivors of all genders from the immediate crisis to long-term recovery, helping them navigate health care, the criminal justice system, social services, and schools.

The organization engages in outreach beyond direct services by collaborating with schools, campuses, police, healthcare providers, businesses, and community groups to prevent sexual violence through training and by helping develop policies and practices.
