Bournewood Health Systems, rooted in Brookline and dating to 1884, serves as a regional provider of behavioral-health care. It operates a 102-bed inpatient unit for adults and adolescents, where multidisciplinary teams provide stabilization, medication management, and skill-building in a structured setting. It also offers partial hospitalization programs that deliver six hours of care per day, five days a week, allowing patients to return home each evening. To meet diverse needs, Bournewood runs separate PHP tracks for adults and adolescents and operates Kaleidoscope, a program for LGBTQIA+ and gender-expansive youth. Kaleidoscope combines cognitive-behavioral, dialectical, and expressive therapies with peer support to help young people cope with anxiety, depression, trauma, and self-harm while building community. In April 2025, Bournewood announced a partnership with SimiTree, Inc., signaling ongoing collaboration to address contemporary healthcare challenges.
