At Black Voters Matter, our mission is to build power in marginalized, predominantly Black communities. We are guided by the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: “Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is power correcting everything that stands against love.” Effective civic engagement and community power start with understanding, respecting, and supporting local organizations and networks. Black voters matter every day, not just on election day, and we support individuals and organizations working for social justice year-round. Black voters matter everywhere, including rural counties, small towns, and cities often overlooked by candidates, elected officials, political parties, and the media. Empowering communities requires communications that reflect our issues, connect to our hopes, and affirm our humanity. The talent, leadership, and commitment of Black women must be recognized and resourced to flourish, strengthen communities, and multiply impact. At BVM, we don’t just mobilize voters. We build enduring community power that drives justice, equity, and meaningful change.
