Its portfolio includes a flagship publication, a daily e-newsletter, and a program of conferences and related projects that cover critical policy issues and governance topics. The organization's content and events are aimed at Sacramento insiders, government workers, and Californians seeking policy insight and informed discussion. Offerings include The Roundup, which reaches thousands of subscribers; the quarterly California Conferences; The Top 100, an annual profile of influential non-elected figures in Sacramento; the Capitol Weekly Podcast; and the Open California Oral History Project. In 2019, Capitol Weekly launched the Top 100 List as part of its ongoing coverage of state governance and public affairs.
