Carr & Hyde, Inc has been in existence since 1966. Prior to that, the agency was owned by Albert V. Carr who purchased the H.L. Baxley Agency in 1964. Then in 1966, J. Philip Hyde, Jr. joined the agency and the name was changed to Carr & Hyde, Inc. More companies and staff were added, and in 1975, an affiliation was made to add full time life and health insurance services to the agency which has been headed by Calvin P. Burton since that time. In 1977, Richard L. Bowen joined the agency as property and casualty agent and soon became a partner in the firm. The following year G. Wayne Eastham became affiliated with the firm as a property and casualty producer. In 2001 Tab L. Vollrath joined the agency as a property and casualty producer and then became partner in 2003. Over the years Carr & Hyde, Inc. has acquired several other local agencies including D.H Lees & Company, Fendley Insurance, and most recently the Van Deman Insurance Agency in Marshall. At the end of 2008, Carr & Hyde Insurance became a part of Greenpoint Insurance Group which is based in Highpoint North Carolina. This move allowed the agency access to addtional markets and services to better serve our client base and continue to operate in the same fashion as before. Our staff in our Warrenton and Marshall offices now totals 18 people
