Founded in 2007 at the Rutgers School of Social Work, the mission of the Center for Research on Ending Violence (REV) is to eliminate all forms of violence and the power imbalances that permit them. We accomplish our mission through a collaborative approach that focuses on multidisciplinary research, education, and community engagement.

REV is committed to connecting our research and education initiatives to the broader community. Some professional training and technical assistance initiatives at the Center include: customized training for state departments and agencies, research-informed technical assistance to support individual and agency growth, program and training evaluation, and a virtual learning academy for professionals. We are committed to partnering with leaders from the nonprofit, government, corporate, and academic sectors in all aspects of our work.

Through the Center for Research on Ending Violence, Rutgers School of Social Work offers a certificate program for Master of Social Work (MSW) students. The certificate program offers students the opportunity to specialize their advanced year studies on issues of interpersonal violence and trauma in order to provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive social work practice effectively. REV also provides competitive scholarships to students interested in working in the area of interpersonal violence and trauma. Students accepted for the certificate program will receive notation of completion of the certificate program on their transcripts, as well as a physical certificate.
