Château Montrose is a wine and spirits producer based in Saint-Estèphe, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. Its 95-hectare vineyard sits near the Gironde estuary, where the maritime setting helps moderate temperatures and frost, and the soil—gravel over clay—supports drainage and a steady water supply for the vines. The estate's main wine, Château Montrose, along with La Dame de Montrose and Le Tertio de Montrose, is produced through careful plot selection and blending across its terroir. The classification as a Second Growth reflects its longstanding standing in the Bordeaux region. Since 2006, when Martin and Olivier Bouygues acquired it, the estate has pursued a renovation with strict environmental objectives aimed at preserving the terroir and advancing sustainable viticulture. A 2021 partnership with EXXACT Robotics to evaluate an autonomous straddle tractor illustrates the estate’s ongoing pursuit of precision farming and sustainability.
