Chicago Importing Company offers highly-sought Scandinavian and Western European chocolates, candies, cheeses, beverages, specialty foods, and more. We believe that nothing brings excitement to the table like tastes from home and the countries which define our heritage.

Founded in 1935 and located in Chicago's West Loop, the company was purchased in 1996 and operated in Elgin, IL for many years. As Chicago Importing Company grew and expanded its lines, we moved our offices and warehouse to Huntley, IL in 2014.

We are the exclusive distributor of popular chocolate brands such as Daim (Sweden), Freia (Norway), Fazer (Finland), and Marabou (Sweden). In addition to offering leading products from nearly two dozen countries, we are proud to offer our proprietary collection of gourmet specialties under the Lars Own label. 

Lars Own branded foods are primarily manufactured in Sweden, Denmark, or Belgium and are known for their use in popular, traditional recipes:
- Wild Swedish Lingonberries are handpicked in the Lapland forest of Northern Sweden
- Rapsflower Blossom Honey is a creamy staple of Scandinavian kitchens
- Yellow Peas used in the traditional Scandinavian Thursday night dinner of Yellow Pea Soup
- Mild & Sweet Mustard and Spicy Brown Mustard are award-winning Swedish recipes
- Crispy Onions are perfect for soups, salads, potatoes, and casseroles
- Ginger Snaps are a favorite cookie at Christmastime or any time of year 
- Swedish Pearl Sugar is used as a topping on cinnamon rolls and pastries
- Belgian Pearl Sugar is what makes Belgian sugar waffles (or "Liege") a popular for breakfast and dessert 
- Swedish Meatballs, often enjoyed with Lingonberries, are from a family recipe and are made in the USA
