Chicago Scholars is a Chicago-based nonprofit organization focused on higher education access and success. Founded in 1996 as a 501(c)(3) foundation, it runs a seven-year program that selects, trains, and mentors academically ambitious students from under-resourced communities to complete college and become leaders who transform their neighborhoods and city. Over its nearly 30-year history, the program has served more than 6,000 students who have attended or are enrolled at 313 highly rated colleges across the United States. In 2022, Chicago Scholars launched the REACH Pathways app to provide high school students with around-the-clock access to personalized supports that complement in-person advising. The organization emphasizes wraparound supports and has formed partnerships with higher education institutions, including collaboration with the University of Chicago Booth School of Business to create pipelines to graduate programs in the Chicagoland area.
