Chicago Shakespeare Theater is a nonprofit performing arts organization based in Chicago, operating on Navy Pier. Founded in 1986, it sustains a year-round season that includes plays, musicals, world premieres, and family productions, complemented by international presentations. Its onstage work is produced across three stages at Navy Pier, with related programming in classrooms and communities throughout the city. It is committed to diversity, inclusion, equitable opportunities, and accessibility in its operations and audience experiences, with about a quarter of attendees under eighteen. In addition to performances, CST runs education programs that reach tens of thousands of students, teachers, and lifelong learners each year. In 2024, CST announced a collaboration with Watermill Theatre to bring a revised version of a production to Chicago with a largely American-based cast.
