Citizens Memorial Hospital opened in 1982 and is based in Bolivar, Missouri, in Polk County. It operates 14 rural health clinics in Bolivar and surrounding communities, along with specialty physician clinics on its campus. The hospital provides a full range of medical and surgical services, including invasive cardiology with Level II STEMI designation, Level III Stroke Center, and Level III Trauma Center, plus an intensive care unit and The CMH Birth Place obstetrics unit that delivers more than 550 babies annually. The Citizens Memorial Health Care Foundation, established in 1986, runs six long-term care facilities and supports home health, hospice, home medical equipment, and retail pharmacy services, making the broader system one of the largest employers in Bolivar and Polk County. In 2026 the organization announced a $100 million expansion that includes a new hospital tower in Bolivar, with the tower opening slated for February and activation planned for April.
