A population of over 21,000 live in the suburbs Nedlands, Dalkeith, Mt Claremont, Swanbourne, Karrakatta, and parts of Floreat and Shenton Park. The City is made up of four wards – Melvista, Hollywood, Dalkeith and Coastal. The key goal for the City of Nedlands is to maintain a harmonious community where residents can enjoy living, working and socialising together. The City is committed to providing value-for-money and quality services to the community, including easy access to excellent health and educational facilities. Nedlands is a beautiful place and the City strives to maintain this unique character through picturesque parks and gardens, undulating tree-lined streets and bushland areas. Delivering high standard quality infrastructure, services and activities to the community is of great importance to the City, as well as enabling lively community hubs where people can come together and interact. An active, safe, and inclusive community can be achieved through well-maintained urban infrastructure (roads, cycle paths, parks, and community and sporting facilities), nurturing the natural environment, facilitating social programs and supporting City events, arts and cultural activities. The City is dedicated to achieving this by serving the needs of the community while continuously improving its standards. This is done by understanding the community’s views, needs and aspirations and then working to attain the desired results. At the same time, social, economic and environmental aspirations are all balanced accordingly.
