Compact Imaging (CI) has developed and patented a miniature noninvasive optical sensor technology called MRO™ (Multiple Reference OCT) for the rapidly growing mobile medical monitoring market. MRO-based devices will be a fraction of the cost, size and complexity of conventional clinical OCT systems. Initially, CI is developing MRO devices for home monitoring of disease progression in patients with vision-threatening retinal diseases, such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy (DR). This application requires low-cost, small, simple sensors that can accurately detect progression and, through the cloud, rapidly deliver clinically-useful information to treating physicians. CI is expediting development of its home retinal monitor through a collaboration with Novartis Pharma AG. CI holds 22 US and foreign patents that cover MRO technology and its use across a range of biological and non-biological imaging and measurement applications.
