DKMS Deutschland is an international nonprofit organization focused on combating blood cancer. Founded in 1991 in Germany by Dr. Peter Harf, it coordinates stem cell donations with the aim of giving patients a second chance at life. Based in Tübingen, Baden-Württemberg, it operates across multiple countries, including the United States, Poland, the United Kingdom, Chile, India, and South Africa, supported by a workforce described as a few hundred employees. In addition to matching and transplantation, DKMS maintains its own Life Science Lab to advance donor typing and improve patient survival and treatment outcomes. In October 2023, the organization launched a YouTube series, #TakeTwo, to encourage more people to register as donors.
