Earshot Jazz is a non-profit arts and service organization formed in 1984 to cultivate a support system for jazz in the community and to increase awareness of jazz. Earshot Jazz pursues its mission through publishing a monthly newsletter, presenting creative music, providing education programs, identifying and filling career needs for jazz artists, increasing listenership, augmenting and complimenting existing services and programs, and networking with the national and international jazz community. 

In 30 years of service, Earshot has established an international reputation for the consistent quality of its programming and community services. 

Presentation: Among the nearly 100 concerts we present each year are the Earshot Jazz Festival, the “Art of Jazz” series at the Seattle Art Museum, a Spring Series of Earshot Jazz concerts, annual concerts of Duke Ellington’s Sacred Music, a new “Jazz: The Second Century” series, and many other stand-alone events. 

Publication:  Earshot Jazz is a well-respected monthly newsletter containing reviews, previews, and profiles on Northwest-based artists by Northwest writers. It has been distributed free of charge around Seattle for 30 years. It contains the most comprehensive calendar of jazz events in the region and is also available online.

Education:  Earshot Jazz brings jazz education opportunities to a wide range of students. Our school assembly programs have reached over 43,000 students and we have recently developed two new in-school jazz education programs. Earshot also provides scholarships, residencies, panels, and workshops in jazz throughout the year.

Leadership and Special Projects:  Earshot activities also include commissioning of new works, producing an annual Northwest Jazz Awards program, booking and consulting with other festivals, providing grant assistance to artists and networking with the regional, national and international jazz community through consortia work, panels, and advocacy activities.
