Fair Trade Judaica (FTJ) operates within the civic and social sector, focusing on advancing a Fair Trade movement within the Jewish community. The organization develops educational materials and programs, including initiatives that connect labor issues—such as child labor in the cocoa industry—with Jewish themes like liberation, and it designs and promotes Fair Trade Judaica products such as the first Fair Trade tallit. FTJ collaborates with artisans, synagogues, and Judaica stores to expand product availability and raise consumer awareness at community events. Based in el Cerrito, California, FTJ targets American Jewish communities and related institutions as its primary audience, aiming to align daily consumer choices with cultural values and social responsibility.
