For 34 years, the Family Giving Tree has been uplifting Bay Area families who face financial hardship by supporting them with school supply-filled backpacks and wished-for holiday gifts. What started as a San Jose State MBA project to help in-need children has grown steadily into an established, widely respected, nonprofit organization.

Since its start in 1990, Family Giving Tree has served over 2,000,000 children and adults throughout the greater Bay Area. We dream of inspiring the values of kindness, philanthropy, and volunteerism to impact our community.

With the invaluable support of our donors, sponsors, volunteers and drive leaders, Family Giving Tree leads two major drives each year. The Holiday Wish Drive fulfills children’s exact holiday gift wishes, and Back-to-School Drive provides backpacks filled with school supplies to K-12 children most in need.
