The Federation of Southern Cooperatives/Land Assistance Fund is a non-profit, cooperative association based in East Point, Georgia, that has operated for about five decades. Its work centers on supporting Black farmers, landowners, and cooperative groups by developing cooperatives and credit unions, protecting and expanding landholdings, and advocating for public policies that benefit its members. The organization serves a network of more than 70 active cooperative member groups representing over 20,000 families across ten southern states, with a focus on Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina. As a member-driven entity, it collaborates with grassroots organizations and corporate sponsors to advance economic freedom and racial equity, and it has pursued initiatives such as hosting farmers’ conferences and releasing policy-focused toolkits. Recent activity highlights include hosting its 42nd annual farmers’ conference in Georgia and partnerships aimed at improving minority and underserved landowners' access to markets and policy analysis related to the U.S. Farm Bill.
