The Fines & Fees Justice Center operates as a national center for advocacy, information, and collaboration focused on reforming the justice system's fines and fees. It aims to eliminate practices that distort justice and to ensure fines are proportional to both the offense and the individual, while ending abusive debt collection and eliminating what it calls the justice tax. By pursuing these reforms, it seeks to strengthen the integrity of the justice system, support public safety, and promote community prosperity. The organization collaborates with justice system stakeholders and affected communities to develop reform models and coordinate nationwide reform efforts. Headquartered in New York City, New York, the center develops state-level reform models, builds a National Clearinghouse, and provides support for reform initiatives across the country. In 2025, Priya Sarathy Jones was appointed as Co-Executive Director, reflecting ongoing leadership updates.
