Florida Gulf Coast University is a public institution of higher education serving the Southwest Florida region from its campus in Fort Myers, Florida. The 800-acre campus blends academic facilities with natural features such as wetlands and pinewoods, providing a natural setting for students and faculty. Since its founding in 1997, FGCU has enrolled about 16,000 students and offers more than 95 undergraduate and graduate degree programs across six colleges, with a focus on sustainability and service learning, evidenced by more than 5 million hours of student service to date. The university positions itself to meet the workforce needs of Southwest Florida's five-county area through its program offerings and partnerships. In 2026 FGCU announced a memorandum of understanding with Pasco-Hernando State College to establish a framework for future academic collaborations designed to expand student opportunities.
