The Gauteng Office of the Premier is a mid-sized provincial government administration based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. It functions as the executive arm of the Gauteng Provincial Government, with the Premier empowered to appoint members of the executive council and assign their functions, and to exercise executive power alongside the council. It implements provincial legislation within the province, implements national legislation, administers national legislation in the province when assigned by parliament, develops and implements provincial policy, and coordinates the functions of the provincial administration and its departments, along with other functions assigned to the provincial executive by the constitution or law. Its mission is to support the Premier and Executive Council in implementing Gauteng Provincial Government policies and their statutory and political responsibilities effectively and efficiently.
