Linking Drugs to Phenotypes using Target-Tissue Signatures GeneCentrix, Inc. is a bioinformatics company that builds tools for early-stage drug discovery. We define drug action by the set of proteins they bind, and the set of tissues those proteins are expressed in. Therefore, drug activity is represented by a set of target-tissue pairs. We define disease, or phenotypes, in a similar fashion, allowing one to match drugs to specific phenotypes. Our methods are based on the idea that for any disease, the combination of specific genes with the tissue expression of those genes produces a unique profile that can link a disease to a set of new drug candidates.
