The Georgia Municipal Association is a nonprofit organization based in Atlanta that represents Georgia's municipal governments. Founded in 1933, it operates as the state’s sole association for cities, providing training for city officials to address governance challenges and advocating for municipal interests at the state Capitol and in Washington, D.C. It also administers employee benefits programs to help cities recruit and retain qualified staff, and offers services that support efficient operation, including audits, meeting management, franchise fee negotiations, IT support, and debt collection. Its membership spans a large share of Georgia's municipalities, representing the majority of the state's municipal population. The association is governed by a board of directors drawn from city officials and is led by a chief executive officer and executive director with a sizable staff. In 2026, GMA expanded member benefits with the launch of an Employee Assistance Program through its employee benefits services.
