Insights

Strategic Industry Position Global Aeronautica operates as a key supplier within the Boeing ecosystem, supporting the highly successful 787 Dreamliner program. Its role as a major subassembly hub and its capacity to produce over half of the mid-fuselage sections position it as a critical partner for aerospace manufacturers looking for reliable, high-volume assembly services.

Potential for International Expansion The company's focus on integrating components from Japan and Italy indicates a strong global supply chain network. This international engagement suggests opportunities to expand collaborations with other global aerospace suppliers seeking to localize or diversify their manufacturing footprints.

Growing Workforce Capabilities With an increasing workforce dedicated to assembly, integration, and testing, supplemented by specialized training programs, there is potential to scale operations for additional aerospace programs or to support upgrades to existing programs with advanced manufacturing or testing expertise.

Niche Manufacturing Focus Specializing in large airframe structures and fuselage sections, Global Aeronautica can position itself as a provider for other aircraft manufacturers seeking advanced composite assembly and finishing services, especially as demand for fuel-efficient widebody aircraft continues to grow.

Financial Growth Opportunities While currently generating revenues between $10M and $25M, tapping into broader aerospace supply chain contracts or expanding services to other aircraft programs could significantly increase revenue streams and attract strategic partnerships with larger industry players.

Our Purpose Global Aeronautica (GA) is a joint venture of Alenia North America, a Finmeccanica Company, and The Boeing Company. The company's role is to support Boeing's 787 Dreamliner program as a major subassembly hub for the 787, integrating large airframe structures from manufacturers in Japan and Italy. Designed as a fuel-efficient widebody jetliner with significantly lower operating costs, the 787 will also provide passengers with unparalleled comfort and access to economical point-to-point service in both overseas and domestic markets. Boeing purchased Vought's share in the joint venture in June 2008. Our Production Operations at GA include assembly, integration and systems testing of over 50 percent of the 787's mid-fuselage section. Adjacent to Global Aeronautica's 334,000 square-foot integration operations located in North Charleston, S.C., is the company's surface-finishes facility where protective finishes are applied before fuselage sections are shipped for final assembly at Boeing. Deliveries of both the individual and completed fuselage sections are made via Boeing's Dreamlifter, a modified 747-400 designed to transport the major composite structures from partner locations around the world to the Boeing final assembly facility in Everett, Wash. Our People Global Aeronautica continues to build its workforce of aircraft assembly, integration and testing personnel. Training for the 787 program in South Carolina is provided by readySC in conjunction with Trident Technical College (TTC) and held both at the TTC campus and on-site at GA's facility. Our Future Global Aeronautica delivered its first completed fuselage to Boeing in May 2007 and momentum continues to build. The outlook for the company's continued success is reflected in the international demand for the new 787 Dreamliner, the most successful airplane launched in commercial aviation history.
