The Godwin-Ternbach Museum, a part of the Kupferberg Center for the Visual and Performing Arts, located on the Flushing campus of Queens College, City University of New York, organizes cultural exhibitions and programs of contemporary and historical significance for the diverse audiences of Queens and the metropolitan region—students, faculty and public alike.
It is the only comprehensive collection of art and artifacts in the borough, housing nearly 6,000 works that date from ancient to modern times, which represent global cultures from Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe and North America. The museum interprets objects on view in the context of the many traditions and histories that give Queens its unique vitality and richness; and introduces many individuals to art and artifacts they might not otherwise encounter, often for the first time. Lectures, symposia, gallery talks, workshops, films, concerts, and tours, as well as digital displays, print and online catalogues, and an active website, illuminate the art on view. All exhibitions and programs are free.
