Founded in 2008 by Zein Ahmed, Guru New York was an eco-friendly designer label creating thoughtfully crafted tunics, dresses, and tops. Over the years since its inception, Guru was featured in Vogue, The New York Times, Oprah’s O Magazine, and more.

The brand worked exclusively with fine European linen and cotton sourced in New York City, transforming these natural fabrics into timeless silhouettes for modern, conscious consumers.

Its signature long-sleeved tunics featured handmade piping in matching breathable fabrics — a subtle detail that reflected a deep commitment to craftsmanship. Inspired by the effortless elegance of Indian art-house cinema from the 60s and 70s, each piece channeled the spirit of the era’s creative, independent, and stylish heroines.

All garments were produced in ateliers in Multan, a city renowned for its centuries-old heritage in decorative arts and Sufi philosophy. These traditions shaped Guru’s aesthetic: refined workmanship, meaningful artistry, and an enduring sense of luxury.
