Hardbanding Solutions by Postle Industries has developed crack-free, casing friendly Duraband® NC hardbanding alloy for the most reliable wear protection for drill pipe applications without damaging the casing. It is 100% rebuildable and is Fearnley Procter NS-1™ Certified for application on new tool joints, as well as, re-application over itself and most competitive products. The cost of hardband re-application can be very expensive if the previous hardband must be removed before re-application can proceed. Close to 80% of the total cost of a re-application is removal of the previous hardbanding, application of mild steel as a buildup, and subsequent machining of the mild steel to prepare the tool joint for the application of the hardband.

Duraband® NC can substantially reduce the cost of re-application since it can be applied over most previous hardbanding, without the need for removal. However, there are certain ones that they cannot go over. If this is the case, a complete re-application is required, which includes previous hardband removal, mild steel build-up and machining. It should be noted that once this procedure has been completed, any subsequent re-application of Duraband® NC should not include removal of the hardbanding and any associated procedures.
