The Harris Central Appraisal District, headquartered in Houston, Texas, is a government agency that appraises taxable property for Harris County, including the county government, cities, school districts, and more than 300 special districts such as Municipal Utility Districts that levy property taxes. It handles the appraisal of more than 1.7 million property parcels each year and administers exemptions and special appraisals, such as productivity valuation for qualified agricultural land. The appraisal review board is appointed by the local administrative district judge for Harris County. In April 2026, the district introduced an Exemption Wizard to help residents determine and apply for eligible exemptions without visiting an office.
