Founded in 1965, the Head Of The Charles Regatta is the world’s largest rowing event and one of Boston’s most iconic sporting traditions. Each October, the Regatta brings the global rowing community to the Charles River for a three-day celebration of competition, excellence, and community, welcoming more than 12,000 athletes and hundreds of thousands of spectators from around the world. Delivering an event of this scale is a true year-round effort. HOCR is governed by a Board of Directors and volunteer Race Committee who oversee race operations, safety, and competitive integrity, supported by more than 100 volunteer leaders across 30 committees. Together with a small, full-time professional staff based in Cambridge, this extended team plans, builds, and executes the Regatta throughout the year. On race weekend, more than 2,400 dedicated volunteers bring the Regatta to life, embodying the spirit, tradition, and teamwork that have defined the Head Of The Charles for nearly 60 years and will continue to shape it for generations to come. Head Of The Charles is a registered trademark of the Cambridge Boat Club, Gerry’s Landing Road, Cambridge, MA. For more information, call Head Of The Charles at (617) 868-6200, email regatta@hocr.org
