Henry J. Austin Health Center in Trenton, New Jersey operates as a Federally Qualified Health Center, delivering community-based, affordable primary health care. Founded in 1969 as Trenton's Neighborhood Health Center and incorporated in 1986 as a private, nonprofit organization, it offers wide-ranging clinical services—adult medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, HIV treatment, dental care, podiatry, and ophthalmology—along with nutrition, social services, behavioral health, translation, transportation, and an onsite pharmacy. Henry J. Austin Health Center is named for Dr. Henry J. Austin, an African-American physician who practiced in Trenton after Jim Crow laws restricted him from practicing in his hometown. In recent years, the organization has undertaken community-oriented initiatives such as a partnership to distribute eyeglasses to students and the hosting of a community toy drive.
