The Iowa Restaurant Association is a nonprofit organization based in West Des Moines, Iowa, serving Iowa’s restaurant and retail beverage industries. It operates as the state affiliate of the National Restaurant Association, providing dual membership and access to national resources. The association supports the sector through advocacy, education, training, networking opportunities, and partnerships with high schools and post-secondary education programs. Iowa’s restaurant and beverage sector comprises more than 6,000 establishments with annual sales exceeding $4.4 billion and more than 140,000 employees. The IRA pursues its mission to represent, promote, protect, educate and advocate for the industry and runs competitions and recognition programs. In 2024, the organization partnered with the Iowa Tourism Office and Choose Iowa to launch a seasonal farm-to-table dinner series in Iowa City.
