In 1910, Guy Justus started his new home building business, the Justus Contracting Company. For the next 50 years, the Justus Contracting Company built homes and developed neighborhoods that were known for their quality and value. In 1962 Guy’s son, Walter E. Justus unveiled “The Crestwood Concept” and broke ground on Crestwood Village East. The Crestwood Concept was founded in the Justus family’s mission — to plan, develop, construct and manage the highest quality housing communities while providing an affordable lifestyle for our valued customers. The slogan; “Where Life Begins at 55” was coined and the unique selling proposition of the day was; “One small payment pays all!” The Crestwood Concept proved to be dramatically successful and 3 more Crestwood Village communities were built. At the same time, Wally Justus, the third generation leader of the company expanded operations to include retail, commercial, and hotel development. Today, the Justus Contracting Company has been transformed into The Justus Companies, a fully integrated real estate enterprise. Inspired by tradition and fueled by integrity… Walt Justus, the fourth generation president of the company, continues to significantly contribute to the development of Greater Indianapolis and its surrounding counties.
