King Faisal University was founded in 1975 (1395H) by royal decree with main campus in the city of Hofuf in Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia. The university was inaugurated by the late King Faisal Bin Abdulaziz. KFU is one of the oldest and admirable higher education and research public university in the nation. By 2010 the number of colleges at KFU has risen to 14 these includes Agriculture and Food Science, Veterinary Medicine and Animal Resources, Medicine, Engineering, Clinical Pharmacy, Science, Computer Science and Information Technology, Business Administration, Education, Arts, Applied studies and community service, Community College for girls, Applied Medical Sciences, Dentistry. The university offers undergraduate courses in the areas of Arts, Science, Education, Business Administration, Computer science and Information Technology, Agriculture science and Food, Veterinary Medicine and Animal Resources, Clinical pharmacy, Medicine and surgery. Post graduate includes Crops and range, Agricultural Economics, Soils and waters, Plant protection, Agricultural engineering, Food science and Technology, Animal Sciences, Home Economics – Nutrition, Home Economics – Education, Home Economics – Family and Child Development, Animal Health-Laboratory Diagnosis, Veterinary Anatomy, Arabic language - Literary Criticism, Educational administration, MBA, Mathematics, Physics, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Research centers Includes, Institute of Research and Consultation, Date Palm Research Center (Center of Excellence), Water Studies, Camel Research, Fisheries Wealth Research, Agriculture and Veterinary and Research Stations. In addition to main stream education, KFU offers e-Learning and distance education. The number of enrollment in the e-learning programs is around 42500 students and growing.
