Kurbo, established in 2013 and acquired by Weight Watchers in 2018, was a pioneering digital health company dedicated to providing an evidence-based intervention for child overweight and obesity. Aiming to tackle a major public health challenge on a large scale, Kurbo's family-oriented Intensive Health Behavior and Lifestyle Treatment (IHBLT) program assisted tens of thousands of children, teens, and families worldwide in achieving their health and wellness objectives. Grounded in scientific principles, the program offered personalized 1:1 health coaching from certified behavior coaches. 

Kurbo's coaching was at the heart of its success, focusing on individualized support to foster sustainable healthy habits. Certified behavior coaches provided tailored guidance, leveraging behavior modification strategies such as self-monitoring, goal setting, and action planning. This personalized approach empowered children, teens, and families to make lasting, positive changes in their health behaviors. 

Additionally, Kurbo featured a mobile app designed using design thinking principles, specifically tailored to children and teens. The app served as a supplementary tool grounded in science-based behavior change techniques to enhance the coaching experience and support users in achieving their health and wellness goals.
