La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, based in New York City, centers its work on supporting the artist and all aspects of theatre. Since its founding in 1961 by Ellen Stewart, the organization provides free theatre and rehearsal space, lights, sound, props, platforms, and other resources to help artists develop and present their work.
