Liberty Counsel is a Christian ministry founded in 1989 by Mat and Anita Staver. Based in Orlando, Florida, with offices in Florida, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., it operates as a mid-sized nonprofit focused on religious freedom, the sanctity of life, and the family. Its work includes international nonprofit litigation, education, and policy advocacy, along with a ministry to persecuted Christians overseas and an international prayer ministry. The organization serves individuals and groups seeking legal and policy support to defend religious liberty and related values, delivering litigation and advocacy services. In August 2025, Liberty Counsel filed suit against the University of Arizona on behalf of former ethics Professor Daniel Grossenbach, who was fired for publicly advocating for parental rights at local school board meetings where his children attend school.
