MC-21, Inc. manufactures stir cast aluminum metal matrix composites (MMC).  Using proprietary stir casting techniques, MC-21 produces 20 - 45% by volume particle reinforced aluminum composites, which provide very fluid handling properties during casting, no inclusions and uniform particle distribution throughout, and the ability to use fine particles for ease in machining.  Casting techniques that can utilize MC-21 MMC ingots include sand, permanent mold, investment, die, and squeeze casting.  MC-21 has taken stir cast MMC a step further, by developing the capability for rolling the material into plates and sheet, allowing for large panel production and enabling parts to be blanked, stamped, or coined as well as water jet or laser jet cut.
