Mercy Community Services is a partnership between two human service programs in Rochester; ◆ Mercy Residential Services/Melita House, providing emergency and transitional housing and support to homeless young women ages 16-22 and their children, ◆ Mercy Outreach Center providing access to health care to the uninsured. Mercy Community Services (MCS), a not-for-profit ministry of the Sisters of Mercy, is a community resource that fosters resilience, connection and stability in individuals and families, so that they may be healthy and empowered. Residential Services - Creating a Safe Home for Young Families to Grow A continuum of supportive housing and services for pregnant and parenting teens and young women and their children; from emergency shelter and transitional housing to supportive community based apartments, the programs offer case management and life skills education in a nurturing environment. Using a holistic approach, women are empowered to develop healthy relationships, become effective parents and work toward self-sufficiency. The program serves over 100 young women and 80 children in housing each year. Outreach Center- Working to Promote Health Equity Providing access to primary health care, dental care, and advocacy services to the uninsured and the underserved. Services include information and referral to human services organizations, legal services, housing information and volunteer income tax assistance. The Outreach Center also provides meeting space for the community, including AA and NA meetings. In 2012 the Center served over 600 patients providing access to over 2500 appointments.
