Metropolitan Planning Council is a small nonprofit based in Chicago that has operated since 1934. It aims to shape a sustainable and prosperous greater Chicago region by developing, promoting, and implementing policy approaches for sound regional growth. As an independent, nonpartisan organization, MPC collaborates with government, industry, and community leaders to advance policies that support a livable and competitive region. Its work targets communities and residents across the region, turning analysis and ideas into practical planning outcomes. In March 2026, MPC co-hosted the inaugural Water Policy Forum with Argonne National Laboratory and Current, highlighting ongoing collaboration with research institutions and sector partners.
