The Millhiser Smith Insurance Agency was established in 1928 by Harold Millhiser. The two-person office was located on the fifth floor of the Guaranty Bank building in downtown Cedar Rapids. In 1947, shortly after the end of World War II, Forrest Smith became a partner and the firm became known as Millhiser Smith Agency. The firm has been located at 3100 Oakland Road NE since 1979. Millhiser Smith currently employs over 40 people and is one of the largest locally-owned independent insurance agencies in eastern Iowa. Our business and personal clients can expect to receive the most personalized service available in the insurance industry. Our agents and customer service representatives work on an individual basis with clients to minimize the time it takes to implement changes to their insurance program. Millhiser Smith represents over 35 individual insurance companies and we work for you, the client, as opposed to being an employee of an insurance company.
