The Mississippi Department of Archives and History is a state government agency established in 1902 and based in Jackson, Mississippi. It collects, preserves, and provides access to the state's archival resources. Through five divisions—Administration, Archives and Records Services, Historic Preservation, Museums, and Programs and Communication—the department sustains its preservation mission. It administers the state's government records program and historic preservation office while overseeing a network of historic sites and museums across Mississippi.
