The Floyd's Insurance group of companies began in 1936 with an independent insurance agency in Whiteville, North Carolina. It was founded by William (Bill) Floyd and shared space with a fertilizer store on downtown Madison Street. It grew steadily, and in early 1967 an in-house premium finance company was formed to offer a payment plan to the agency's customers. In 1988, the company began forming affiliated subsidiary premium finance companies, each doing business with a single outside agency or group of agencies. In 1995, these smaller companies were consolidated into the largest, Monthly Payment Plan, Inc. Since then, Monthly Payment Plan has financed over half a billion dollars in insurance premiums. We currently service well over two hundred agencies in North Carolina and South Carolina. MPP finances both personal and commercial insurance and makes several thousand new loans each month. Our main premium finance office is located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. We also have offices in Whiteville, North Carolina, and Beaufort, South Carolina.
