NACAS supports professionals managing auxiliary services in higher education by facilitating idea exchange, program development, revenue enhancement, and the building of professional networks. It is the largest organization dedicated to auxiliary services in higher education, with members spanning colleges and universities across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Australia. Founded in 1969 as the National Association of College Auxiliary Services, the group maintains its national office in Charlottesville, Virginia. The association operates as a volunteer-driven entity, governed by an elected board of directors representing college and university administration, and supported by standing committees and a national office staff. In 2024, LaNiece Tyree was elected president, making her the first woman of color and the first from an HBCU to hold the role.
