Nascent Surgical is the developer, manufacturer and distributor of the miniSquair,™ the first surgical smoke evacuator proven to capture and remove 99.5% of the bioaerosols formed at the incision site during open surgery. The device not only protects the respiratory health of both patients and medical staff, but minimizes the liability risk for surgery room operators.

The company was founded in 2010 by Dr. Leonard Schultz, inventor and industry leader in the evacuation and filtration of smoke that is generated in the operating room. As a general surgeon for 30 years, he has been involved in the research and development of viable solutions for the removal of the surgical plume in the operating room.

Dr. Schultz also invented and later commercialized the Plume-Away® and See Clear® laparoscopic smoke evacuation systems. Dr. Schultz holds multiple patents, both domestic and international, related to these commercial products. He continues to work toward his ultimate goal of a smoke free environment in the operating room with the launch of his newest company, Nascent Surgical, LLC.
