The National Kidney Foundation of Florida, a major voluntary health organization, seeks to prevent kidney and urinary tract diseases, improve the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases and increase the availability of all organs for transplantation. Kidney Disease More than 26 million Americans-one in nine adults- have chronic kidney disease, and most don't even know it. About 485,000 Americans suffer from kidney failure and need dialysis treatment or a kidney transplant to stay alive. In Florida 2.5 million people are affected by kidney disease. The Mission of the National Kidney Foundation is to prevent kidney and urinary tract diseases, improve the health and well-being of patients and families affected by these diseases and increase the availability of all organs for transplantation.
