NSSA is a government statutory body in Zimbabwe, created by the NSSA Act of 1989 to provide social security. It operates within the public administration sphere and is based in Harare, Harare. A development noted in May 2026 is NSSA's work on a maternity protection scheme intended to provide income support and social security cover for women, especially those in the informal sector.
