Orono Public Schools is a public K-12 district in western Hennepin County, Minnesota, serving all or parts of Independence, Long Lake, Maple Plain, Medina, Minnetonka Beach and Orono across 49 square miles. The district's administrative address is 685 North Old Crystal Bay Road, Orono, and it employs 201–500 staff. It operates a central 120-acre campus that houses Schumann Elementary, Orono Intermediate, Orono Middle, and Orono High School, serving about 2,900 students. Orono Public Schools participates in the Metro West Conference for athletics and activities and offers a core curriculum with Advanced Placement options, plus K-12 gifted education and comprehensive special education programs.
