Pend Oreille County Public Utility District is a public utility provider based in Newport, in Pend Oreille County, Washington. Founded in 1936 and beginning operations in 1948, it oversees four core operating units: the electric system delivering power to residents and other customers in the county, the Box Canyon Production System that generates hydroelectric power, a water system comprising nine subdivisions, and a community network system supplying wholesale broadband connectivity. The district functions as a multi-utility organization within the regional energy and infrastructure landscape, covering electricity distribution, hydroelectric generation, water distribution, and broadband services. In 2022, Clark Public Utilities partnered with Pend Oreille PUD to secure hydropower from the Box Canyon Dam to meet the state's clean energy regulations.
