Pioneer Human Services is a Seattle-based nonprofit that operates a social enterprise model to support people involved with the legal system. Founded in 1963, it runs more than 35 programs across Washington state delivering counseling, treatment, housing, and job-readiness services. In addition to direct services, it operates businesses such as aerospace manufacturing, aerospace parts warehouse distribution, and food services that provide on-the-job training for program participants. Its work targets justice-involved individuals who face barriers to housing, health care, and employment, including those with co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns. A notable recent development is the September 2024 launch of the King County Residential Treatment Program to support this population with integrated care.
