Rail Market Focus Quandel Consultants is a specialized rail engineering and planning firm with long-standing relationships with state DOTs, Amtrak, Class I and shortline railroads. This presents opportunities to upsell advanced corridor planning, environmental documentation, and program management services to public agencies and freight carriers pursuing rail modernization.

Midwest Strength Headquartered in Chicago with eight offices and a prominent Midwest footprint, Quandel’s regional concentration suggests a strong track record and referral potential within state and municipal rail projects across the Midwest, especially for intercity corridors and grade separation engineering.

Strategic Growth Recent leadership acquisitions and appointments, including a Vice President of Business Development and senior directors, signal a focus on expanding client relationships and expanding service offerings, which creates opportunities to introduce new bundled services such as grant strategy, service planning, and construction engineering.

Employee Ownership As an employee-owned firm that emphasizes accountability and collaboration, Quandel may be receptive to value-aligned partnerships, joint ventures with certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, and collaborative bids on complex rail projects requiring inclusive teams.

Digital Presence & Tech Quandel’s tech stack and public project footprint indicate potential for digital engagement in proposals, data-driven corridor analyses, and GIS-enabled planning services. There is room to position analytics, visualization, and open-map deliverables as differentiators to win rail-related assignments.
